“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” - Jeremiah 1:5 NASB
Who me?! I would consistently ask growing up when hearing God has a plan for me (Jer 29:11). I love dance and fitness. I was determined to be in front of people my way and in my time frame. I didn’t care how. I was in it all for myself. I was wandering aimlessly around in life doing my own thing with my own plans. Not considering God in anything I did, but I did pray because I was raised in a Christian home. I had a relationship with God, but it was not an intentional growing relationship on my part.
I didn’t think I had a purpose. I knew, but didn’t believe God had a calling on my life that was similar to Jeremiah and Moses. It blows my mind that these great men of the Bible would push back or protest when God told them He had something for them to do (Exodus 4:10 and Jer 1:6). This made me take a look at myself. God honestly had to physically break me to help me and get me on the path He wanted me to be on. It took me having a growing Grade III brain tumor, brain surgery, radiation, chemo and being bald twice for me to see Him clearly and do what He has for me to do. I now share this story of my amazing God and how He really took over in my weakness through a small business by running programs, speaking and writing books (2 Corinthians 12:9).
It also makes me feel really loved, special, and unique to think that God, Creator of EVERYTHING, formed me in my mother’s womb and created good works for me to do beforehand (Psalm 139:13 and Eph 2:10).
We are ALL created for a purpose. God has a divine design for us all. Before He formed us, He knew us and knew what He had for each of us to do to further His Kingdom Agenda. Then He formed us and set us apart or consecrated us. Thank You Jesus!
A great reminder for us all is a common quote often shared, “God does not call the equipped. He equips the called.”
