Fourteen women decided to come down for the Valentine’s Day Party put on by the Stonecroft
volunteers at the local women’s prison. They are not required to participate, so Deborah and the other Stonecroft women are always pleased to welcome as many women as possible.
“Each woman received an individual valentine, ‘signed’ by one of the names of God with a special message pertaining to that quality or characteristic of God,” Deborah explained. “I gave them a sheet with the names of God listed in the Bible so that they could see what that particular name of God meant. We prayed that they felt seen, known, and valued by God.”
There were also treats and a speaker who talked about caring for others without taking on that person’s burden as your own. The Stonecroft women demonstrated this physically to the women by caring for them through the party and then by hearing their prayer requests and faithfully praying for them.
Stonecroft equips, trains, and supports women like Deborah and the other Stonecroft volunteers to reach out to women in all walks of life and create places of welcome and caring, where they can experience loving community.
