Who’s teaching you and what are you learning?

Pause and Reflect: Who, in your life, has been your greatest life teacher/influencer? What impact has this person had in your life? What person or people do you hope to impact with your life?

Scripture: “I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you” 2 Timothy 1:5 NLT

Scriptural Insights: There has been much research to show that you become like those you spend the most time with. In this passage, the apostle Paul acknowledges the impact that Timothy’s mother and grandmother, Eunice and Lois, had upon forming the faith the apostle Paul mentions his student Timothy exhibits. Later, Paul encourages Timothy to “Hold on to the pattern of wholesome teaching” and to “Guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.” 2 Timothy 1:13-14 NLT

So, we begin to understand, through Paul’s writing in 2 Timothy, the importance of those who teach us, those we allow in our inner circle, and those who we give our ear to and spend time with. You may be out of school and no longer a student in a formal classroom, but you still remain in the world’s classroom daily, so who are you allowing to teach you?

1 Corinthians 15: 33 “Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.”
